SBEA President's Message
Greetings, Business Educators!
Thank you for visiting the NEW Southern Business Education Association (SBEA) website. I want to thank the SBEA webmaster, Wendy Sonnier of Louisiana, for spending many hours creating our new website. I hope you will find interesting and helpful information that will encourage you in your journey as a business educator.
As your new SBEA President, I look forward to serving you in the Southern region as we move into a new decade under the direction of NBEA's new Executive Director, Joseph McClary. I know he will help to bring NBEA into the forefront of business education in this decade. I cannot mention Mr. McClary without mentioning Dr. Janet Treichel, NBEA's Executive Director for 30 years. Dr. Treichel served tirelessly and helped to make NBEA known throughout the country. I wish her well in her retirement.
As we reflect on previous years and how business education has evolved, we realize that the present is an exciting time for business education because everything we do is a major part of every industry in the world! Business educators have the best jobs in the world as we train and educate students to productively and efficiently move into the workplace. As our students become major players in the global work force, they will always use the skills that we have been allowed and honored to teach them. If you are like me, you love being a business educator, and I cannot imagine doing anything else that would bring me greater joy!
I hope you will begin now to make plans to attend the 2020 SBEA Annual Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. This year's conference, "Rockin' 'n Rollin' with SBEA", will be held at the Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel on October 21 - 24. It will be a wonderful time of professional development, as well as a time to make new friends, to catch up with old friends, and to network with other business educators who want to know your strategies and best practices and who want to share their ideas with you! Please mark your calendars now, start setting aside some funds each month, and invite your favorite co-worker to attend with you. I promise you will enjoy your time away and will take home many new tactics and methodologies for your classroom.
Let me introduce you to the 2020 SBEA Executive Board -
